Tonight was crazy. Lots of skating, practicing starts from the line and recovering from a fall. Then the hitting drills. We had a stationary pack of 8-9 blockers, 2 "jammers" start on the other side of the track and skate through the pack. The jammers could do whatever to get through and the blockers could whatever to stop them. The only rule was no illegal hitting.
Everyone took a turn being stationary and everyone had to skate through. The hits were hard, most girls fell at least once, 3 girls got injured, and it was awesome. Like bacon flavored mayonnaise.
On a side note: I skated backwards a lot better than I ever have. I want to skate backwards more now that I know how to do it. And then get the transitions down. Before I felt like, why learn to turn around if I can't even skate backwards?
On a food side note: A new grocery store opened and had crazy sales, I bought chicken breasts, thick cut bacon, brie, baguettes, soups, and mint shower gel. I'm cooking up the bacon for bacon bits (and then storing in the freezer) next, the chicken just came out of the oven, and I had ground turkey thawing- so tomorrow I'll make cilantro turkey burgers. Yum!
